On June 18th, the institute opens with a morning of self-care offering newcomers exposure to the fundamental practices and principles of mindfulness and give those with an established practice, the opportunity to refresh or take a deeper dive. The remaining Intensive instills the experience and confidence to help participants facilitate mindfulness practices with children and youth. Facilitators will model teaching that promotes emotion regulation, attention, and social connection through a trauma-sensitive lens. Participants will explore leading formal practices using age-appropriate scripts and learn how to integrate mindfulness skills by inserting small moments of awareness during a class period, a therapeutic encounter or school day.
